David Jackson LTCL (Mus Ed) became Bandmaster of the Lincoln District Scout Band in August 2005 following a period as a band member. He is a Warranted Scout Leader at 10th Lincoln (Waddington) Group. Before moving to Waddington in 1999 to take up a Civil Service Post as Bandmaster of RAF Waddington Voluntary Band (a post which he still holds), he completed 22 years service as an army musician. During that time he has served mostly with the Band of HM Scots Guards although originally he was in the Alamein Staff Band of the Royal Tank Regiment.
Dave has seen service in Northern Ireland and in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War of 1991 and also in peacetime conditions in Germany and UK. In common with many service musicians he has studied at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall.
Amongst places visited whilst performing are USA, Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, Germany, France, Cyprus, Malta and Gozo! For nine years, before his move north and whilst living in Burnham, he was Musical Director of the Burnham Concert Band.
November 2001 - July 2005
During Allister's time as Bandmaster membership increased dramatically and a large amount of equipment, instruments and uniform were replaced. It was also at this time that the band first achieved CLASS 'A' status. (Class 'A' means this is a top class band, such as you might see competing in the top class of a national youth band league.)
1982 - 2001
Jill was a founder-member of the band - back in 1977. Jill led the band from 1982 until 2001. One of Jill's proudest moments was when the band played for Princess Diana, The Princess of Wales, when she visited Lincoln. On 20 April 2005, Jill was awarded the Silver Acorn, for her years of service. This is one of the highest Awards in Scouting.
1977 - 1982
Arthur was the first Bandmaster of Lincoln District Scout Band and could often be seen playing the bass drum or leading the band as Drum Major.
